This comprehensive course provides pet owners with the skills and confidence needed to respond effectively during common canine emergencies. In addition to learning how to treat burns, fractures, heat stroke, and wounds, participants will receive hands-on guidance in proper bandaging, assessing injury severity, and safely cleaning and protecting affected areas.

The class also includes instruction and practice in lifesaving techniques such as CPR, rescue breathing, and how to recognize and relieve choking—skills that are demonstrated and performed on professional canine mannequins for a realistic training experience. Participants will learn how to evaluate vital signs, manage shock, and stabilize a pet until veterinary care is available.

Students will review essential items for building a reliable pet first aid kit and an emergency travel kit, including tips on what to pack for hurricanes, evacuations, or extended trips. Instructors will also discuss how to prepare for natural disasters and what to do if your dog becomes injured while outdoors, hiking, or at home.

This course is ideal for dog owners, pet sitters, groomers, and anyone who wants to be better prepared in an emergency. Please note: For the comfort and safety of all participants, dogs should not be brought to class.
